Dr Clem Bonney is a General Practitioner who started his working life as an electrician. He completed an electrical apprenticeship as a heavy industrial electrician.
He then completed a Bachelor of Health (Nursing), working as a Registered Nurse before commencing his medical training at the University of Queensland, completing a MBBS in 2003. Dr Bonney was then awarded a Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, after working in rural Queensland. In 2018 he was awarded a Fellowship of the Faculty of Occupational and Environmental as part of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, completing a Graduate Certificate in Occupational Rehabilitation, University of New South Wales and then a Masters of Workplace Health and Safety at the University of Newcastle, during his training.
Dr Bonney developed an interest in musculoskeletal medicine during his participation in triathlons, competing in Sprint, Olympic and Half Ironman distances, and now powerlifting. Following a serious injury in 2016 while lifting, he has developed a further interest in rehabilitation and it relationship to chronic pain.
His interest in musculoskeletal medicine as an extension of his practice in the occupational medicine sphere. He works closely with physiotherapists, exercise physiologists and orthopaedic specialists to assist early and complete recovery.
